Important: In the Quechua language, Takiri means, “He who creates music and dance.” Join us for this exploration of Latin American rhythms from Colombia, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru, including Cumbia, Bambuco, Mapalé, Merecumbé, Plena among others.

Most of our dances have African, European and Indigenous influences. The African influence in the base rhythm, the European heritage in the words and costumes, and the indigenous heritage in the melody and dance.

Pilar Rocha-Goldberg, Founder, Director, and Choreographer for Takiri Folclor Latino, is Colombian, born in Bogotá. After moving to the United States in 2004 and having danced since she was 7 years old, Pilar wanted to keep in touch with her roots and founded Takiri Folclor Latino in 2014.

All attendees over the age of 2 must have a ticket.
