liminal animal (blip) is the most recent work building on Brooks Emanuel’s “liminal animal” performance practice, an improvisatory movement practice through which he investigates humans’ existence as biological beings and our place in the natural world. This iteration combines both live and projected movers, additional projection, and a sound score Brooks composed of his own field recordings of other creatures. The work is meant to be experienced equally as both gallery installation and performance. Audience members are invited to move around to take the work in from various perspectives but can also remain stationary. Previous audiences have called the work immersive and meditative.
